Under the hood
How the dates are worked out
- 1
Your tax period is your financial year
Corporate tax applies to financial years starting on or after 1 June 2023. A December year end's first tax period was calendar 2024.
- 2
Nine months to file and pay
The return and the tax are both due within nine months of the end of the tax period, counted month-end to month-end, so a 31 December year end files by 30 September.
- 3
Weekends roll forward, but don't rely on it
Under the Tax Procedures Law a deadline on a non-business day moves to the next business day. The FTA has not confirmed this for every corporate tax deadline, so we show the business day before as the safe date.
- 4
The seven-month waiver
If you registered late, filing your first return within seven months of your first period end waives the AED 10,000 late-registration penalty, or credits it back if you already paid.
